About Me
Ever since I was young, I’ve been drawn towards work that creates possibilities for meaningful change. My mom was a public school teacher, and for a while I thought I might become one, too. I knew I had a passion and knack for caring for people, nurturing relationships, and delighting in diversity. So I worked with young people in residential homes as an advocate and counselor. I trained with great mentors to become a labor and community organizer in Boston. And I learned to manage diversified organic farms, both rural and urban, as a way of stewarding land and producing accessible, healthy food.
I loved all this work, but as I approached my mid-thirties, I continued to feel called to something else.
Eventually, I realized that what I wanted most of all was to work at the intersection where personal change and liberation met broader societal change and transformation. It was then in my life that I decided to shift careers and dedicate myself to becoming the best therapist I could be.
That was ten years ago. Since then, I have had the tremendous privilege of working as a social worker and narrative therapist in a variety of settings: Boston Public Schools, community mental health clinics, and now in private practice.
I work consistently in community with others to increase my ability to support individuals and families take preferred stances towards the problems in their lives. Just as importantly, I am constantly learning from the many people who consult me. Everyday, they introduce me to remarkable new stories about what it looks like to hold our most precious values and unique purposes while navigating life’s difficult challenges.
I consider it an incredible gift to meet new people and work together to find new paths forward in life. If I have the privilege of meeting and working with you, I look forward to hearing about what matters to you and to learning together how you might prefer to face whatever might be causing negative effects in your life right now.
Intertwined with and alongside my work, I am an avid admirer of all plants: from small, transient wildflowers to big, old trees whose root systems I could not possibly fathom, even in my dreams., I feel lucky to be able to enjoy all sorts of movement, from basketball and soccer to swimming, bicycling, and running — and occasionally all three during a triathlon! I am moved and inspired regularly by music, fiction, art and poetry … like one of my recent favorites: the tender and life-affirming writings of Ross Gay.
